Low Cost Travel Now Available from Bay Area to Central Mexico
Oakland, California – August 20, 2014 – Volaris Airlines, headquartered in Santa Fe, Mexico D.F., has announced plans to fly nonstop from Oakland International Airport (OAK) to Morelia, Michoacan (MLM) on November 3, 2014 and OAK to Leon, Guanajuato (BJX), Mexico beginning November 5, 2014. Volaris will begin serving Morelia with twice weekly departures on Mondays and Fridays, and once weekly departures to Leon on Thursdays. The airline also offers Bay Area travelers’ nonstop flights to Guadalajara and Mexico City from OAK.

Leon, the 5th largest city in Mexico, is a colonial town offering modern industrial assets, shopping and dining and is home to one of Mexico’s top ten convention centers. Leon also provides easy access for visitors to nearby San Miguel Allende, a popular vacation destination for Bay Area residents. Additionally, members of the Mexican community currently residing in Oakland and the San Francisco Bay Area will have quicker and easier opportunity to visit families and friends with the new service to both cities.
