Oakland International Airport Ready for Summer Travelers with New Flights and More Destinations

New Nonstop Service to Europe, Hawaii, East Coast and Midwest

Oakland, Calif.—May 23, 2014—The Memorial Day holiday weekend kicks off the peak summer travel season at OAK highlighted by historic firsts and new airline service to four new destinations. OAK is ready for travelers with great options for dining and shopping in both terminals along with special offers for free and discounted on-airport parking. Over the four-day Memorial Day weekend, Oakland International Airport expects that over 120,000 people will arrive and depart from its two terminals. This summer there are 151 peak day departures scheduled to 38 domestic and international cities including four new destinations: Oslo, Norway; Stockholm-Arlanda, Sweden; Baltimore, Maryland; and Chicago, Illinois – O’Hare International.

New Nonstop Flights to Scandinavia and More Flights to Hawaii Lead To Great Summer Vacations. Vacation starts the moment travelers leave home when departing from OAK. Known for its on-time flights, easy access and convenient location; travelers choosing OAK will have a smoother, faster and less stressful airport experience. There are shorter lines and plenty of on-airport parking also available.

This summer OAK’s newest airline, Norwegian –recently named World’s Best Low Cost Carrier- will offer unique 787 Dreamliner service nonstop to both Oslo and Stockholm marking the first-ever Dreamliner service at OAK and the first air service between the Scandinavian capitals and Northern California.

Hawaiian Airlines will add seasonal Boeing 767 wide body service to Lihue, Kauai and Kailua-Kona on the “Big Island” in addition to its existing daily service to Honolulu, Oahu and Kahului, Maui.  Together with additional Hawaii frequencies added by Alaska Airlines to all four major Hawaii airports, travelers will find up to 6 daily Hawaii departures, and over 1300 daily seats, from OAK.

SATA International will resume seasonal service from OAK to the Azores Islands on June 2. The Azores Islands are a Portuguese archipelago paradise in the Atlantic Ocean. Allegiant Air resumes seasonal service to Missoula, Montana and Idaho Falls, Idaho on June 5. Service Glacier Park International Airport, Montana starts on June 06.
