OAK’s newest airline – Viva Aerobus adds more flights, new destination

Daily flight to Guadalajara and additional frequency to Monterrey added

Oakland, Calif. – August 6, 2024: San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport (OAK) announces that this fall, popular Mexican airline Viva Aerobus will grow its schedule at OAK from 2 to 10 weekly departures. Building on its initial success, Viva Aerobus has added an additional frequency between OAK and Monterrey and a daily flight to a new destination, Guadalajara. Viva Aerobus began service to OAK on July 1 with two weekly flights to Monterrey.

“We’re excited to see our newest international airline, Viva Aerobus, grow at OAK following their successful start-up this summer,” said Port of Oakland Aviation Director Craig Simon. “The new service strengthens the already strong ties between the San Francisco Bay Area and these two major metropolitan areas in Mexico.”

Viva Aerobus will add a third weekly frequency between OAK and Monterrey, Nuevo León to the current twice weekly schedule. The three flights to Monterrey (MTY) will operate on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays effective November 1, 2024.

The daily flights to Guadalajara begin on December 2nd, 2024
