Getting to Oakland International Airport Is Now Uber Easy

Fly OAK and Uber Your Way Around the Bay

Oakland, CA – August 14, 2015: The Port of Oakland, operator of Oakland International Airport (OAK) announced an agreement with Uber that permits the Transportation Network Company (TNC) to legally operate its uberX product at the Airport. Through the agreement, vehicles are authorized to use uberX to pick up and drop off customers at OAK, under a pilot program. Service began yesterday afternoon.

“Uber’s availability at OAK expands our ground transportation offerings for passengers,” said Acting Director of Aviation, Kristi McKenney. “It is important that we are inclusive and responsive to customer demand, which includes the ability to use TNCs.”

“We are thrilled to add Oakland to the growing list of airports that have embraced ridesharing services like uberX as a safe, reliable transportation option,” said Wayne Ting, Uber Bay Area General Manager. “Thanks to the leadership of the Oakland International Airport and the Board of Port Commissioners, travelers from all over the world will now have the choice of requesting a safe, reliable and affordable ride with uberX when they land at Oakland International Airport.”
