OAK projects 340,000 travelers to pass through the airport for the holiday
Oakland, Calif. – November 20, 2024: OAK Airport projects that approximately 340,000 passengers will pass through the airport during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period from Friday, November 22 through Sunday, December 1.
“We wish our community a very happy Thanksgiving and look forward to welcoming travelers who will Fly the East Bay Way for the holiday,” said Port of Oakland Director of Aviation Craig Simon. “We expect that our terminals will be busy, so passengers are encouraged to arrive at the airport early, reserve parking, and check in via their airline’s mobile app ahead of time.”
As always, the airport recommends arriving early: at least 2 hours prior to departure for domestic travel and 3 hours for international. Additionally, passengers can save time by checking in for their flight before coming to the airport using the airline’s website or mobile application. In case of airline delays or cancellations, be sure to check flight status before coming to the airport as well.
New concession locations are now open and serving passengers! New units introduced this year include Cancun Sabor Mexicano and A16 Pizza in Terminal 1. All airport concessions and hours of operations can be found here. Renovation of OAK’s Terminal 1 check-in counters and restrooms will continue through the holiday season with minimal impacts to travelers.
OAK is still taking new parking reservations, but room for non-reservation parking is limited. Reservations guarantee entry to the parking lots, so we strongly recommend making a reservation during the holidays. Economy and Daily Lot parkers can get discounted rates ($2 off for Economy and $4 off for Daily) when they reserve ahead. If travelers choose not to secure parking with a reservation, be sure to check the parking website ahead of the trip for lot occupancy rates and urgent “sold out” alerts. Parking can be reserved at book.iflyoak.com.
