Airport Marks 24th Consecutive Month of Passenger Traffic Gains
OAKLAND, CA: (December 22, 2015) — More flights, new destinations, and more passengers. Oakland International Airport (OAK) has enjoyed a healthy year of growth. The airport has now recorded 24 consecutive months of year-over-year passenger traffic gain according to its November reports.
Passenger traffic in November continued the airport’s growth trend with a 12% increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
Airline seat capacity, at 1,204,152 seats, was up 8.8 percent from last year, with passenger traffic outpacing the increase in available seats.
Reports also include a 2.3% increase in load factor with 79% of all seats occupied on average.
Air service expansion contributed to the increase in passenger traffic in November, as the month commenced with the additions of Southwest Airlines nonstop service to Atlanta, Spirit Airlines’ two daily flights to Los Angeles, and robust passenger numbers around the Thanksgiving holiday.
