Spirit Airlines to Introduce Double Daily OAK – LAX Nonstops

Oakland, CA (May 26, 2015) – Spirit Airlines has announced that it will inaugurate service between Oakland International Airport (OAK) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) with twice daily nonstop flights on November 12, 2015. The new service builds on Spirit’s existing daily nonstop flights connecting Oakland with Las Vegas (LAS), Chicago O’Hare (ORD) and Dallas Fort Worth (DFW).

It also brings to 24 the total number of flights connecting OAK and LAX on a daily basis. Southwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines also offer multiple flights daily on the route.

“The ‘Bay-to-Basin’ corridor is one of the busiest air travel markets in the world, and Spirit’s new service out of Oakland International Airport brings a new option and greater choice for travelers,” said Deborah Ale Flint, Director of Aviation for Port of Oakland.

Known for dramatically lowering airfares in markets that it enters, Spirit provides an a-la-carte fare structure allowing passengers to pay only for the services and amenities they desire – such as its popular “Big Front Seat” – a wider seat with additional legroom and no middle seat at the front of the cabin.

Oakland International Airport is Spirit’s exclusive gateway in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to the new service inaugurated today, the airline offers daily nonstop flights between OAK and Las Vegas (LAS), Chicago O’Hare (ORD) and Dallas Fort Worth (DFW).
