OAK’s newest international carrier expands with second nonstop destination

Oakland, Calif. – December 3, 2024: Yesterday, OAK Airport’s newest international carrier, Viva, inaugurated their new nonstop service between the San Francisco Bay Area at OAK and Guadalajara (GDL). The new flights to Guadalajara will operate daily on Viva’s fleet of Airbus 320 or Airbus 321 aircraft, seating 186 and 240 passengers, respectively. Viva began service at OAK earlier this year in July with the first-ever flights to Monterrey. That schedule was expanded from 2 to 3 weekly flights on November 1, 2024.

The flight schedule for Guadalajara is below:

Southbound: Depart OAK at 11:20 PM, Arrive GDL at 5:15 AM (daily)

Northbound: Depart GDL at 7:45 PM, Arrive OAK at 9:50 PM (daily)

Tickets can be purchased at VivaAerobus.com

“We’re impressed with the growth and reliability that Viva has demonstrated since they began service at OAK this past July,” said Port of Oakland Director of Aviation Craig Simon. “What began as 2 weekly flights is now, just 5 months later, 10 weekly flights reflecting the demand for travelers to use OAK. Viva’s entry into the San Francisco Bay Area market exclusively at OAK has helped make OAK the region’s top gateway to Mexico. We know that there are deep ties between Jalisco and the East Bay, this new daily flight will be a welcome addition to our international schedule.”

“As part of our expansion strategy in the US, this service will offer the people of the Oakland and San Francisco Bay Area a unique opportunity to discover the cultural and natural beauty that Guadalajara offers. Thanks to our low fares, modern fleet and increased connectivity, American passengers will also be able to easily connect to any of the 32 routes we offer from Guadalajara,” said Viva’s EVP and Chief Planning and Alliances Officer, Javier Suárez.

The capital of the Mexican state of Jalisco, Guadalajara boasts a rich mix of tech and manufacturing industry combined with historic architectural styles, lively arts and a vibrant cultural scene. Booking is available at VivaAerobus.com.
